World Sight Day is an annual awareness event on eye impairment, blindness, as well as eye health care. This particular event is held every second Thursday of October. This event is mainly coordinated by World Health Organization (WHO), UN’s direct coordinator of health. Also, along with WHO is International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and other active organizations such as Lions Club International in managing the activities associated with the said big event. World Sight Day has main goals to extend throughout the world. These includes the global awareness in the increasing number of people who needs eye care, the need to raise global awareness regarding eye impairment and blindness as big society issues that shouldn’t be taken for granted, to influence government sectors and other organization to take part in giving funds and supporting the event, and also make people knowledgeable of the early prevention of blindness.

World Sight Day 2011 – Vision2020.org
Vision2020.org is the official site of Vision2020 which is a joint program of World Health Organization which was particularly established to raise global awareness on elimination of eye impairment and blindness. Vision2020 has been recognized to help lots of people every year due to its Right to Sight program. Vision2020 works together with WHO and IAPB in careful planning of annual activities which would specifically bring eye treatment to people who needs it. Vision2020, as a big contributor to World Sight Day success and also coordinates with NGOs, government sectors, public and private organizations for support in order to have better plans to carry out.
World Sight Day 2011 – Seva.org
Seva Foundation had filed its big support and participation in World Sight Day since then. As a compassionate foundation, Seva also brings forth its big hand in providing support, accommodation, cooperation, and ideas in making the World Sight Day more successful and effective every year. This foundation’s also visions the world the same with WHO and IAPB. It also focuses on global awareness on blindness and the ways of preventing it early as possible. Seva is one of the organizations that are continually making people helped by giving them another chance of seeing the light or giving them chances to avoid the pain brought by blindness and visual impairment. Seva brings all organization, government sectors, volunteers, donors, and even ordinary citizens to make a stronger force making the World Sight Day successful every year.
